Yemen Mokha Matari

Yemen Mokha Matari

$14.00Price

Some of the highest growing coffee in the world (>7000 feet), and some of the most unique tasting heirloom varieties of Arabica coffee you can find anywhere. This coffee represents the collective harvest of all the small farmers in the region around Bani Matari (Yemeni states are referred to as "Bani"s), in the high altitude areas around the capital city of Sana'a.

This coffee is naturally processed, meaning the cherries surrounding the coffee bean are left in tact during the drying process which lasts anywhere from 10 to 20 days. After the fruit has broken down by natural fermentation, the beans are seperated from the fruit and washed before drying further until they are shelf stable.

This coffee won't last long. Yemeni coffee is difficult to come by in the United States; increasingly so due to the currently escalating regional conflict disrupting all trade, and the internal civil war displacing thousands of coffee farmers.
